GE Dryer Wiring harness issues


I have overhauled my 30 year old GE dryer several times with a new element, etc and in the process noticed the insulation on both the wiring harness crimp terminals and insulated terminals at the element and running to the sensors have begun to turn brown and on two occasions, the factory terminals melted and the wire broke through.
My local parts guy says this is the norm due to heat and dust in the enclosed area as well as moisture and vibration.
Is this common on other dryers as they age?

GE Dryer Wiring harness issues


I've never had a 30 year old dryer
But its never a good idea to leave wiring in place that has the insulation falling off

Hey you're right, however it was fixed 30 minutes after I wrote this, but I'm still puzzled....
