GE Dryer DBSR453EB0WW not heating

I have a GE dryer that has several things going on. first it does not always shut off in the moisture drying mode. Now is isn't heating up at all but runs. Also the light does not stay on when the door is open. if i open it while it is running, the light will stay on for about 5 seconds and shut off. I am guessing that the heating element is bad or possibly a limit switch is out. As for the light I am not sure what is causing that unless the door switch is going bad but the switch seems to work properly. the continuous running possibly time gears broken.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
