gas oven is very slow...

My wife just finished roasting her second Thanksgiving turkey in gas oven after doing 30 in electric ovens. She complains that it takes 20% longer with gas than it did with electric, with the same temperature in roasting bags. She wants to either buy an electric oven or a counter top turkey roaster.
Seems to me that it should cook the same. The difference must mean the teperature is lower then she thinks; but what do I know...

Any informed opinions?

Go buy an oven thermometer and check it.
Some ovens can be adjusted if the temp. is off.
Sorry but 350 deg. is 350 deg. gas or electric.
Show me a commercial kitchen that has an electric oven.
Adding the make and model # to your post may help.

GE JGSP28WEK2WW
The thermometer says the thermostat is right, but they could both be wrong. I guess we need to try the thermometer in another oven.

Or the electric one she was used to put out more heat than indicated. Seems like a big expense instead of jacking up the heat or waiting a bit longer.

Please read my post of Dec 7, 2013 top of this page. If you think this problem might apply to you then you need to verify your ovens temp w a good digital thermometer. It need not be a Kenmore.
