Gas oven stops heating - help!

Our oven will sometimes stop heating. The display will still show the temperature and the timer will still count down, but when I open the door the food isnt cooked and it's only like 100 degrees in there. It's warmer than room temp so it obviously started to heat.

This has only happened twice and at random times. I baked dog treats for like 5 hours the other day without any issues. But today I tried to cook enchiladas for a half hour and it happened.

Any idea what this could be?

Gas and 3 or 4 years old. Brand is Whirlpool.

Both times it happened we were using the timer. Probably a coincidence, but thought I would throw that out there if it might help the diagnoses.

The timer is just that, it times the cooking time and has nothing to do with the the gas turning on and off.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but the gas/heat on my oven will shut off when the timer reaches zero.
