gas oven isn't heating

anyone have any advice on this? My oven is not heating properly. It took 30 minutes to get to 175 degrees. I checked and the igniter came on and seemed to burn a hot color but I smell gas like for some reason the gas in the burner is not burning. Could the burner be plugged not letting it light correctly? The top burners work fine and I hate to replace the stove. The smeel of gas does scare me though. Any help would be greatly appreciated

gas oven isn't heating

Check oven safety valv in oven.Same prob here. It was bad would not light but leaked gas. Pretty easy to remove and mine $100. Check repair.com or other with model #. Or just take pic and compare...Good luck. BTW turn off gas b4 doing anything and unplug appliance.

gas oven isn't heating

Thanks for the info Han. It turned out it was the ignitor. It wasn't heating hot enough to totally open the gas valve so for $63 we replaced it. Found out they are very easy to replace. Thanks for your reply and if anything else happens you have given me another area to check.
