Frost in freezer-Whirlpool
I have a Whirlpool refrigerator, Model EST 15PM. I have frost in the freezer section. I have read to check the drain holes and the defrost timer.
1. What do I remove to check the drain holes? 2. Where is the defrost timer located? How do I access it? 3. This is an older unit (about 40 years old). Is a defrost timer still available and at what cost? Also, the blower motor in the freezer dept. does not turn off. Is that a clue to my problem? Thanks, Jerry 10/4/12 Last edited by Jerry8C; 10-04-2012 at 12:49 AM. Reason: More information |

frost on the evaporator coil would indicate a defrost problem. Defrost system has 3 parts, timer, heater, and thermostat. Could not locate your model but usually whirlpool defrost timers were in the back of the refrig unit by the controls. If oem part is not available there should be a generic to cross over to.

40 years? Unless your saving the unit because it's a classic.....time for a new one.....
A new fridge will use just a fraction of the energy this one does. I would not spend a cent on it....unless it has some other value...such as keeping beer cold in the man cave.
