Front loading washing machlne - how to clean

What is the easiest way to clean the dispenser drawer and the inside of that section? We have a newer Samsung washing machine.

by dispenser drawer doyou mean the softner, soap and bleach dispenser? If so, pull the dispenser open as far as you can, Look right in the middle all the way to the back of the dispenser. You should see a release tab there. Press down on it and pull the dispenser all the way out.

Yes I know how to remove it, but how can I thoroughly clean the dispenser and the area it slides into?

Either I'm missing something or I'm just a little dense this morning. If you know how to remove it, I would think the rest would be fairly obvious. Soak the dispenser in hot water or even throw it into the dishwasher to clean.

should be self cleaning as the house water runs through it. unless it's gunked up from undiluted fabric softer.. if it's a water prob=iron/lime/etc. could try putting LemiShine* in dispenser and running clean cycle.

is that mold?

we leave our drawer and door open when not in use ... I'd probably just clean that with diluted bleach

I'm sure all washing machines have black mushy spots like I have that are hard to get to. The issue is how to reach them to clean it.

Mold? I doubt it. I clean this weekly.

you could try an old toothbrush to get in the nooks and crannies. diluted bleach should help to clean it.

I can't answer on the fabric softner since we don't use that, but diluted does sound right to me. easier for the nmachine to wash it all in to the load.

Bleach on the toothbrush? And then wipe down with rag & warm water?

sure, just get a little capfull to dab the toothbrush in.

the part you remove from the washer you can just rinse off.

you can wipe off the inside part of the washer when you are done.

if you want to go the pricey but easy route, they make HE washer cleaner tabs. I think tide, whirlpool and weveral others. I've never used this.ymmv

I think one of the most important things when washing is to make sure you are not overdoing the detergent. I remember a good rule of thumb is that if you see suds, you are using too much. use a little less next time.

We actually cheat here and use regular powder detergent. When we got ours a couple years ago, the tech who brought it recommended using 1/8 cup of regular detergent. Seems to work great for us.we have no problems with clumping, smells or gunk. When you use too much detergent it tends to stick in the washer and not rinse out fully.
