Frigidaire ( FRS28ZRF) icemaker/dispenser issue

I recently purchased a Frigidaire side by side from Craigslist for the basement.
The owners stated they never used the water dispenser and the ice maker. When I hooked up the water supply line I had to purchase the hose type connector for the vinyl water line. I went to press the dispenser button for the water and just heard a buzzing noise. The ice maker and water dispenser is not working. Have any ideas?

What do you mean by a hose type connector?
If you mean a saddle clamp like this, http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=...electedIndex=0
Get rid of it and install a real stop valve.
Is there a plugged up water filter?

Frigidaire ( FRS28ZRF) icemaker/dispenser issue

Joe,
It is a hose type connector that screws into the water inlet valve. Which alliws the water line to be hooked up to that sadle valve. But its the buzzing that gets me when the dispenser button is pressed for water. No water or ice.

I did some research on the dispenser issues and think the problem could be the wster inlet valve.

Have you tried a new solenoid valve yet? Try unhooking the water outlet hose on the solenoid and put on a short section that you can direct into a container. hit the water switch and see if anything comes out of the "test" line. If it does then the problem is further up the line. If not then get a new solenoid valve. Keep testing this way up the line until you find the problem.

There is a sizable tank on the fridge side that holds water so it can get cooled for the dispensor. It may also feed the ice maker. At any rate this tank needs to be primed in order for water to come out of the dispensor. Hold the valve open and listen for air coming out. The ones I have seen look like they may hold a gallon or more.

Just activate the cold water dispensor and hold it on untill water finally comes out.

The buzzing noise is the solenoid on the water valve. If the filter is not installed properly water can not flow through it. Start by verifying you have adequate water flow from your saddle valve to the solenoid valve by opening it up at the solenoid. If you get good water there then check to make sure there is not a shipping cap in the valve inlet.
