frige stopped cooling but freezer still works. 1196 kenmore coldspot. defrosted freezer as ice granules on all interior stuff.

My kenmore coldspot stopped cooling but Freezer still works. had to defrost, as ice formed on most of the interior stuff. Have had problems with water spillage at bottom of refrig (on the inside)What 's the problem

Have you cleaned the drip pan underneath the frig that catches water? Some times just vacuuming dust from the coils underneath and/or in back will fix the problem you describe as well. Don't mean to insult you but I am notorious for not checking the obvious first. You didn't accidentally hit the temp controls with a milk bottle or something.

Your defrost system isn't working. Either your defrost heater or defrost thermostat. once enough ice builds up it blocks the air flow into your fridge.
