Fisher and Paykel alternative

We have a double drawer F&P dishwasher which is about 10 years old. It is broken with several issues and wife and I are thinking we would like to replace instead of repair. We don't like the double drawer setup that much and it's probably getting to the end of its service life anyway, if not already there.

It's less than 24", around 23 1/2" I think. What are my options for replacements in that size? Counter height is standard 36"

Are you sure that the measurements are "non standard" I put in an F&P two drawer unit in about 5 years ago. All I did was pull out the "standard" Whirlpool, and drop the F&P in it's place ( after running the extra drain line). My F&P fit the standard dishwasher rough opening, with no mods needed

BTW: I had only 1 minor issue in 5 years, and was able to get a hold of someone in their customer service ( sounded like it was in Australia or NZ,) and they fixed me right up

Yes, a standard 24" won't fit in that space. It's fine to go the other way around, which is why it worked for you. If you look at specs for F&P (current models anyway) they are 23 9/16 where as more common ones are 24" Doesn't seem like much, but it's enough to make it not fit.

I guess I am still a little confused...

So you are saying that your cabinets were built "around" the F & P dimensions, but if they had been built to the standard opening, the F&P still would have worked, and others would have fit as well?

Found this one , looks like the Bosch and Miele's fit the 23-1/2" opening as well

must be a metrics system thing

Correct. You can, as you did, fit a smaller dishwasher into a larger opening. I bet you didn't even notice (or think to look for) the slightly larger gaps. I wish I was in your shoes!

my wife would be SOOOO JEALOUS if she saw your kitchen. VERY nice.

You might have been posting those picts while i was editing my response, but it looks like the Bosch, and Miele Dishwashers are also less than 24" wide. My guess is these, like the F&P, conform to a metric cabinet, which is why they are slightly smaller

LOL, thanks! We were sold on the house largely due to that kitchen!

I did look at Bosch and I thought they were 24". I'll check again. My friend has a Bosch Integra and he loves it

Edit: From Bosch site

Required cutout/niche size for installation (in): 33 15/16'' - 35'' x 24 '' x 24 '' "
Appliance Dimension (in): 33 7/8 '' x 23 9/16 '' x 22 9/16 '' "

my guess is this will work fine. probably even comes with a gasket to make it "fit" in a standard 24" opening. i imagine a tighter fitting DW WOULD RUN QUIETER as well
