Dryer vent codes

I live in a mobile home and our dryer vent, which is the plastic hose type, goes through the floor then makes a 90 degree turn and out the side of the house. I am looking at buying a new dryer and the salesman told me that the codes had changed and I have to use a solid pipe that can't go through the floor. He said it had to be vented directly to the outside wall. Is this true?

how in the hell can it be vented on a outside wall if it is is we will say a bath room wall or a wall to a garage ?? i would talk to the code office and ask them. I wouldn't take his word for that.

But I would still use soild pipe. DO not use rivits or screws to hold it together, use foil duct tape.

Dryer vent codes

Sounds like crap to me. Considering I've only seen dryers by an outside wall about 10 percent of the time

There is a code against flexible pipe leaving the room by way of floor or wall... though I have not heard of your situation.
Where are you located, I'll research it, or just call the local AHJ, as said already.

Mobiles need make-up air supplied, as opening a window twice the size of the pipe diameter and may need special exhaust system hardware. You cannot exhaust vent to a mobile home crawlspace, and the termination hood must be securely attached to the homes skirting.
