Dryer timer

I have a whirlpool super capacity plus. If we turn the dryer dial much past the cool down area, it won't start. If I really torque or press the dial, I may get it to start, but it will usually quit once it starts to move.

Is there any way to fix this, short of replacement? Is this the timer motor?

Just names and not a model#.

Sounds like a bad timer is very possible.

Send the timer away to be rebuilt, order a rebuilt timer ( if available ), order a new timer.

Not likely, timer motor makes the timer move/advance and does not make the dryer run.

jeff.
