Dryer noise

When using my dryer- it is making various noises....sometimes loud, sometimes just an intermittent squeak. Right now I am hearing what sounds like money or other 'pocket finds" rattling around in it(there is not any) and a repetitive squeak. The heat is working- but annoying sound! What can/should I do?

Most dryers have nylon bearings at the front side. Its just a shoe of plastic that the drum rides on. When they get worn out the noise can get pretty bad.

Could be a lot of things.
Worn belt.
Bad pulleys.
Something stuck between the drum and the front panel.
Got a model number?

Is it ok to use the dryer even though it is making these noises?

I wouldn't for very long.

Now it is running and making no noises at all- heat is still working...?????

Like Joe said, it may have been something stuck between the drum and the face and it has fallen out. I used to clean out a couple dozen dryers twice a year at a retirement community and I usually came out a couple of bucks ahead from change removed from the fan housing.
