Dryer first run smokey?

Just hooked up brand new dryer. 240v electric. Ran it for a few minutes to make sure it was venting outside. Looks good.

Come in, shut it off, open the door and PHEW! Stinky and kind of smoky coming out of the door....

Normal for a first run, considering it was empty or should i look elsewhere?
