dishwasher hums

I have a GE model GSD2030Z02WW in a rental home. When turned on all it does is make a low hum. I don't know where in the cycle it stopped, but the bottom was full of water. I took off the sump cover and didn't feel any thing blocking the opening. I'm mechanically inclined and can use a multimeter, but don't have any experience with dishwashers. I just need a little guidance to avoid unnecessary disassemblies. Your suggestions would be appreciated.

dishwasher hums

The dishwasher motor may make a humming noise during operation which is normal and some of the things that attribute to the noise are:

1) The fan that cools the main pump motor is rotating.
2) The soft food disposer may be grinding up food waste.
3) The drain pump may be operating.

Thanks for your suggestions. This morning I disconnected it, flipped it over and found the pump motor stuck. By rotating the motor by hand I unlodged whatever was in there and It works fine now. It took 2.25 hrs complete with a test wash and clean up. I was surprised how simple the whole mechanism was. Thanks for your interest.
