Dishwasher door

I'm told you can get different color/finish panels for the front of a dishwasher. This would be for a Whirlpool. Anyone know a place I can look to get the parts needed? Anyone done this before?

I've replaced the front panel, but I don't remember the brand. I assume the appliance store where the dishwasher came from would have them.

Find the model number (usually on a sticker on the side of the inside of the door, near the seal). And do an online parts search. Might turn up that way.

dishwashers used to come with extra panels in the front. there were 2 two-sided panels and if you removed them you had black. i dont remember when they stopped doing that to save money. you could always remove the existing panel and paint it the color you want. i know they do sell stainless panels for dishwashers cause thats what im getting for our DW. i'm just getting a piece of stainless and cutting it to fit, its about 1/3 the price of a stainless DW panel.

Dishwasher door

Thanks guys. My cheapo 10 year old dishwasher is not working right all of a sudden, so I need to replace. Someone my wife knows is giving us an almost new one because they got all new stainless, but this one is black. Our appliances are all bisque color, so I would have to change out the black panel.

I have been known to haul appliance fronts to my local auto body shop. Folks will usually fix any rust, prime and paint for not much money in whatever color I want. Just be a tad flexible on scheduling.

You can buy appliance paint in a spray can, steady hand a couple of coats. Be sure to at least fine sand the surface to prep it and wipe it clean. I did mine 20 yrs ago, had a gold dishwasher and rust colored ranged hood with almond fridge and stove when we moved in. Dishwasher and range hood looked great and the finish lasted well for at least 10 yrs.
