Default Clothes washer fails to run

Our clothes washer quit today! It just sat and hummed! Eventually, tripping the circuit breaker.
The classic symptoms of a start winding circuit problem.
The motor shaft can be rotated freely, with the fingers.
This motor has 6 conductors feeding into it.
Do washing machine motors have a centrifugal start switch inside the motor, similar to regular motors or is the start function controlled externally by a timer????
