What do you mean it wasn't coming on?, can you be more specific? Like it doesn't tumble, it doesn't heat up, if it has light on the inside does that come on, if it is a digital display does that come on?
First thing I would do is find the door switch (the pin switch that moves when you shut the door) and manually push it in and out with the door open and ready to run, maybe tap (don't get to carried away with it cuz you don't wanna break it) it a little bit and continually push it in and out and see if that is the problem since that is the easiest to test, if it kicks on then get a new door switch

second, UNPLUG the unit and make sure all your wiring connections are good and tight

Does this have a digital display or is it the old turn style?

third if none of these work UNPLUG THE UNIT and take off the back panel and look for any burnt up or wires that came loose, if the back doesn't come of then you will have to take whatever you need to to get to the wiring to inspect it. Most of the time you can look up how to take apart your specific model on youtube

so your door switch works if the light comes on, so did you take off the back panel to inspect the wires. ALso you might check the start button? maybe that switch is bad. Can you hear the motor running when you hit start? because if you can't then it could be a broken belt or tensioner and it might not heat up if there is a safety in it if the tumbler doesn't spin. The last sentence was me just thinking out loud.

either the start switch or the motor is burnt up because if I remember right the wiring goes through the motor then to the heating element. DO you have a multimeter to see if power is going into the motor?
