Choosing new washer dryer

We are looking to get a new washer and dryer, for our condo. We are a couple with no children, it is an old condo so there is a washer/dryer niche in the kitchen.
At the local home depo we found this selection:

GE, $379 - 498, Maytag $448 - 694, LG $599 - 899, plus some higher end.

Do you guys have any opinions about brand, and price? We plan to look at other places too. We will probably get a top loader, with 6-7 kilogram capacity or a little less. What is this I here about a filtering system for washers, for the lint problem?

Choosing new washer dryer

I bought a GE top load washer and dryer in November and haven't had any issues. I only paid $300 total for both of them new so I would be happy either way.

This is the model I got: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...1&ddkey=Search

The GE for $379 but buy the Amana dryer #NED4500vq [or if gas-equiv' model]. that set-most value for your $ and situation.

The problem with consumer reviews are; they might trash a certain appliance that the manf had problems with. then the appl' is improved but stigma still remains. gotta make sure it's apples and apples your reading about. usually be a # before or after the color designation. so a 2 would be some kind of change from a 1..this is a real problem since they started naming all these appliances; like they do with cars. plus if you read all these reviews-you won't buy any brand.
