changing old 1800 model stove from electric to gas
I bought an beautiful 1800 circa cast iron, cook stove that was converted to electric. I love to do home canning and need a gas stove. Is it possible to change it? Which type of contractor would I contact and approximate cost? Should I sell it and by a new gas stove?
Thank you for your time,
Welcome to the forum,
Finding a competent contractor to do a conversion would be difficult for the simple reason being how many of these conversions are done each year in the whole country?
Classic Reproductions of old stoves that now use gas are available, although they are expensive. I went back to Ohio in 2007 for a H.S. reunion and visited Lehman's store in Amish country South of Akron. They make big deal about being "All Gas" because they sell still sell a lot of appliances (e.g. propane refrigerators) to the Amish throughout central Ohio.
Thank you for your reply and help. The Lehmans site you gave me is great. My stove looks alot like that. Thanks again!:)
