Carrier Furnace with red tip to press down to help light gas furnace
 

I just bought this house and I have never seen a gas furnace that has to be lit. It has a red push button and I think that i have found the pilot light between 2 blessers at the bottom. How do I light it without blowing up my little girl and me?

Instructions for lighting the Pilot Light should be on the furnace.

Generally gas valve is turned to pilot position, Hold it down, & light pilot light. Continue to hold button down for about 60 seconds. then release button. pilot light should remain lit. Turn gas valve to" On" position.

Best I can do. Some folks turn off pilot light for summer period. Saves about 6$ a month.
