Can a frezer burst if its not defrosted?

Loke as in a freezer compartment, on top end of a refrig/freezer. This is not a frost free type. Freezer is 100% packed with ice. I say yes, it can crack/burst at least the plastic shell . And maybe even the aluminum coils, right? Im gonna do it this wweekend, but curious as to what members here think.

thanks

The edges of the ice pack may undergo freeze-thaw cycles where water seeps between the ice pack and other surfaces, refreezes, and re-expands.

I think it would make a cool experiment.

Do it. For science!

I have see few like that before and to burst them the answer to your question is .,, Oui ou Non ( yes and no ) depending on how long the frost is.

But for sure it will warp up the frezzer box for a fact.

Whatever you do when you take the chunks of ice out of the frezzer never I will say NEVER use the knifes at all or any sharp edge due it can punched the freon line once it punched it become a king sized paperweight.

So thaw it out with hot water and close the door and use alot of old towels on bottom shelf of fridge part to pick up alot of water and expect to see it alot of them.

The last time I have to thaw it out it was over 35 liter worth of ice/water came out of the frezzer itself

Bon Chance.

Merci,
Marc

Sorry for delay in replying, people. Thanks, Alan and French for reading my post and understanding what my problem is, despite a few mispeled words. (the other posts were not useful or helpful).

Good feedback! yes, I wont use steel/knife/crowbar to wedge out the ice.....LOL!

Will get to it today, using a fan blowing into the freezer to thaw, and yes, French, lots of towels.
