broken door handle on GE over the range microwave

Friend has this problem... the top of the handle is completely broken off and the bottom is cracked and on its way. I don't see an obvious way to remove and replace the handle, if one is even available. Short of trying to glue it up does anyone know a good way to repair this?

OK, I think I figured it out. Looks like the door back just pops off... there are indents to put a flat blade in. Found the new handle online and it is $$, but what can you do?

like you already figured out, the back does pop off. The handle is pricey but ya gotta have it.

Yup, gotta have it and they know it. But $55 for a piece of cheap plastic is ridiculous. For some reason this particular model has one of the most expensive handles with many others being in the ~$35 range.

It's this little beauty: http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDeta.../WB15X309/2366

I got hits for as low as 30.50 dollars at by searching that part number. (If the links below dont work or get removed)
