Another dishwasher won't drain thread
I have a Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher model number BGHD2433KW0 purchased in September 2009. We noticed the other day that the water isn't draining out the bottom of it. I looked under the sink and saw that it isn't connected to the disposal, so the knockout plug isn't the issue. The part of the drain hose that I can see doesn't appear kinked. I'm looking for suggestions on what to do next. Thanks.

Just a suggestion, have you checked the food basket/filter (your model may be self cleaning) and drain hose for stuck food and debris? Others will be along shortly with more advice. Thanks.

I removed the glass trap and the filter and cleaned out a bunch of gunk. I put it all back together and ran a rinse only cycle to see if the water would drain out. It didn't. I listened and heard what I thought sounded like the motor or pump or whatever it's called running at the end of the cycle. I'm not sure how I would check to see if the drain hose is clogged as the hose is actually a copper pipe. It connects to the sink drain pipe on one side of the sink. I ran water down that side of the sink to see if it would back up there but it didn't.

So, I'm open to more advice/suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Is it an option to disconnect at least one end of the copper pipe and blow it out with an air compressor if you or a neighbor might possibly have one. Rule out any clogged drain pipe issues.

Problem may be with the dw unit. Do you know the type. Usually either direct drive or forward reversing drive.

I'm not sure if it's direct drive or forward reversing drive.

Basically, direct drive does not stop to drain. Forward reversing drive stops, then starts up in the other direction to drain.

If you know for sure that all the drain lines and traps are free of clogs. Then the problem may be in the dw unit. You can go to Type in model number, problem, it will list possible causes/fixes, and you can order your part(s). There are also how-to videos to assist you. Hope this helps give you a few more ideas or suggestions you can try before you call the repairman.

Just to update, I ended up calling the repairman. He said the pump was all clogged up. He cleaned it out and it works fine now.

Thanks for the update. Glad everything worked out for you.

Now you have to be careful while cleaning the pump, it happens sometime.
