Amana washer


it seems mine will agitate but locks and slips the belt when the trans switchs to spin ,,i pulled back on the tensioner and it popped the thermal switch ,,,do i have a bad trans ???? Model ALW48odaw ,,,,any help ????????

probably-common on this washer. only other thing is something caught in outer tub.
