Amana Microwave Convection Exp. 208 volts

Hello,
I bought a Microwave Oven – Amana Convection Express volts 208 vac/60 hz; freq 2450 mhz; current pwr 4000 watt and plugged in to 240 home supply. It doesn’t work - not even a light bulb. Why? I have been told that it will work fine. Any idea or suggestions
Thank you all

should work, something is obviously wrong with the microwave or your outlet

not exactly - if i had 240 volts appliance it would work on 208 supply but 208 on 240 it maybe too much difference. this oven is made in 1998 and is only for 208 V (3 PHASE) doesn't have that tolerance 208-240.

yes, it would still work

correction, it will not work if it is a 3 phase microwave

yes this is a 3 Phase microwave by 208 v. my outlet is 240v 3 phase - thus, I think the appliance will not work due to the higher electric waves. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks , Margaret

no your 240v should be single phase . it is the phase difference that is making your unit not work, not the voltage difference

of course now all makes sense - thank you so much  margaret
