bought house last year dishwasher kitchenaid kudi01ilwh5 willnot start debating fixing vs new any way to tellthe age of it

Dishwashers are usually supposed to be on a dedicated 15 amp circuit.
Did you check the breaker to it? If not, flip it all the way off, then back on. (You should be able to take the screws out the dw connection to underneath the cabinet counter-top and just pull the unit out to find the ID plate. It may be on the side of the door.)
You can replace the main timer control unit. You have to turn the breaker off of course. I once replaced this unit on an old dishwasher and it worked fine for years until the tub finally developed too may rust spots and I replaced it only due to that.

There have been so many mergers and acquistions in the dishwasher manufacturing industry that it may have a different brand name, but the parts should be interchangeable.
