1997 Saturn SL, five speed. About 140k miles, bought it used with about 68k, has never really given me any grief.
Got about two feet of snow last night, cleaned the driveway out and went for a ride to see how everyone else made out. I got to a point in the road and decided to turn back by pulling a U Turn. I pulled forward, stopped. Tried to put her in reverse, required a little effort (has been "sticky" trying to get in R or 1 every so often). All of a sudden, it's like shifting in water, no resistance. No R. So I fuddle around a bit with the gear shift, 1 and 2 have no resistance. Try R again, there it is. Back up. Now need to go forward, and again, like shifting in water, no 1 and 2, but I do have 3. So drive the mile home starting in 3. Pull n the driveway, slid down further than I wanted. Shift to R just fine, have reverse. Shift to 1 fine, have first.
Thoughts? Anything I could do from inside the car, way too much snow to slide under her!
