Fuel pumps don't normally go halfway bad. They go or they don't.

Have you check the TPS voltage?

what do you mean by "under load" ?

does it drive ok, but idle crappy ? if so, the egr has some crap stuck in it.

Gm vehicles with the vortec engines require around 60 psi fuel pressure. A drop into the 50psi range may not even be enough to get the engine started, let alone allow it to run smoothly. Low fuel pressure issues are not uncommon with these engines.

The first thing to check would be fuel pressure, sounds like you may have a weak pump or a problem with the fuel pressure regulator.

All good feedback so far.

Check:

TPS voltage
EGR cleanliness and function
Fuel Pressure

under load can also point to ignition system. What color is the spark? Under load at all speeds? Up hill? your cat blocked? Fuel pumps can develop strange problem that can last for years.
