will this work (paint wallpaper)

I am SICK of stripping wallpaper after doing 2 rooms!!!

But, I also hate the old wallpaper in a 2nd bath. I just want to see a pretty color, of my choice, and not someone elses wallpaper.

If I paint the wallpaper in the 2nd bath would that make it much harder to remove down the road when I get to it, say in a couple of years? It's a vinyl coated wallpaper.

Altho I don't see how it could possibly be any harder.

Stripping wallpaper is a state of mind.. lol
If you hate it, it will not go well. You must go ninja on it. Find its weakness and exploit it.
Then only you will be one with stripping of the paper, grasshopper!

There is nothing worse on the face of the earth than painted over wallpaper. It looks horrible and for future reference, it is a BIT** to remove, even worse than removing the unpainted wallpaper. Removing paper takes patience. Try to pull off the vinyl topcoat. If it comes off, you will see the paper backing. The paper backing requires that you wet and re-wet it till it finally gives up its grip on the wall and usually can be pulled right off if you have soaked it for at least 20 minutes. If the vinyl won't pull off, you have to "score" the paper to allow water to penetrate and reactivate the adhesive. Again, it's a process of wetting and rewetting til it comes off. You may have to use a wallpaper scraper to coax it off.

If you paint the paper, ugh. You have to prime with an oil or shellac based bonding primer so it will stick to the vinyl and not create bubbles on the surface like a water-based primer will. Then apply 2 topcoats. Guess what? It looks like painted over wallpaper.........U-G-L-Y.

As much of a pain as it can be....it will be worth the work.Make sure to wash/scrape all the old paste of.Works a lot better than sanding dry paste and painted over paste will bleed over time.

Use 25% white vinegar and the rest hot water. Stronger if you can take the smell.
I found it loosens glue as good as any removal product.
