Will a smooth wall show up through the paint

had popcorn ceilings in my master bedroom that I just finished removing. I'm ready to mud and sand now so that I can paint. I need to remove the old corner tape where the ceiling meets the wall and place new tape for a nice seamless corner but the walls are textured. Is the method for mudding the same when the wall is textured as when it's smooth? I don't want the difference to show in the paint.

No.The method is not the same. You will need to remove some of the teture on the wall to get a nice corner joint and then match the texture you have removed. What type of texture is it?

Same method but for your final coat, you have to find a match for the texture and mix up some thinned down mud to do a texture treatment on those corners. It's tricky because everyone does texture a little bit different.

They make rattle cans of texture that you can find at the big box stores, but since you may have a lot of texture to do, this could get pricey.

I would think about crown molding at this point. I used the smaller 2" stuff in my house. It isn't that expensive, it will end up saving you time doing the wall/ceiling joint, it will look nice and add value to your house.

If you go to the Depot they have that crown in contractors packs for half the cost. May be more than you need but could still cost you less.
