White Washed kitchen cabinets
 

I have white washed oak kitchen cabinets. What materials were used to make the wash? The cabinet faces look fine but the edges on the doors have the finish cracking because of water dripping off the counter. How can I resurface the top edges of the doors?

Exactly........without pics and more information.......it's pointless to offer up any advice. You would have to contact whoever did the cabinets originally to ask them what type of wash/paint/stain they used to achieve the white-washed effect. Any advice without that type of critical information could cause you to create even more problems when attempting to fix it.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that. I will try to get that information. I wish I had prevented this problem in the first place. What do you suggest for cleaning/polishing cabinets to maintain wood finishes?

Again, a difficult question to answer without a pic. Cleaning depends on the type of clear finish, if there is one, on the white washed cabinets. If they have polyurethane on them you can use relatively strong cleaners like Krud Kutter to clean them. If they have lacquer on them you have to be careful about using water on them as it can damage/dull the finish. It's possible they do not have a clear finish which makes it very tricky to clean them without wiping off some of the whitewash finish.
