When can I paint this post?

I recently replaced a damaged post in front of our house. I used treated wood, it was very green and almost soggy.

How long should I let it dry before painting it?

There are some primers that are supposed to allow you to paint treated wood immediately but the concept makes me nervous. I agree it is best to wait at least six months.
