What to use for covering nail holes

I need to fill in nail holes left from using nail gun on casing. What can I use to make these holes invisible after the casing is painted?

A good spackle like Dap Crackshot works well. Fill them completely and leave a little excess sticking out of the hole. When its dry sand flush.

Dap 33 is the best. It's a window glazing putty. No need to be sanded after and application is one or two flicks of the finger

The problem with window glazing is that the oils in the putty will wick into the latex painted surface.

Recently, I have been using Elmer's Wood Filler Max and been happy with it.
However, there's no escaping the sanding. This product can be sanded down in as little as 15 minutes. But I've found that waiting about hour produces better results. Good Luck.
