What Are These Items On The Roof

Hello,

My son has a new house and I don't know what the two side by side items are in the attached photo.

They are above the fireplace pipe. I am sorry for the quality of the picture.

Please tell me what they are.

Thanks,

Randal

Look to me like attic vents. Should be some more around the house roof about the same level. The number would depend on the size of the house.

They are attic vents but they look like they are installed backwards.

the only problem with them being installed backwards is that a professional can see that there installed backwards.

You could get the elements in. Maybe take a look in the attic when it is raining.

You live where there is wind driven snow and rain? That kind of looks like a hood scoop...

I'm not familiar with a hood scoop. I looked on Home Depot and Lowes site under that name and they didn't have anything. Can you give me a link to what you are talking about?

Sorry- kind of a joke..

You want those vents to be facing down so that it doesn't do what the scoop in that car is doing- funneling everything in.

Actually- just had a brilliant idea- this is the painter forum-look at the top and find the Roofing Forum. They might have a real idea!

How do you contact a moderator to move this post to roofing? I used an old link that was for painting and I didn't realize it till you said something.

Don't worry about moving- just re ask over there- now you know there vents- ask if it is a problem with the way they are installed- and also say where you are from- that would be important too-
