What finish should I use?

What finish should I use?-image-3677668914.jpg

Just finished priming this part of the kitchen wall. I've finally picked out a white but totally forgot to think about what choosing a finish. Semi-gloss? Gloss? Flat?

It did cross my mind when I wrote the original post that it wasn't clear which part of the wall I meant. I did mean the wood part. Is there something else to call it other than the "wood part"? It's kinda of similar to bead board except that the planks are much wider and it's definitely not wainscoting. Is this even a style or did the person who put it in just slap some boards up and decided it looked good?

Another question, which paint should I use? It's a BM color I've decided on. I've used BM Regal on walls and loved the texture but not what it did to my wallet. Used SW Pro Classic for trim. Had lots of brush marks but that could be technique. Thoughts?

If you are putting on 1 coat, then do not go below quality of BM Regal, SW SuperPaint, etc. (It makes economic sense to spend more on paint in this case.) If you are putting on 2 coats, then a little less expensive paint can be used, but be careful you don't get into high spatter territory because then it's just not worth your time and trouble.
