Water Stain on ceiling..how to go away??

I had a small roof leak that caused a couple of stains on the ceiling. Both are approx 12" x 4 inches. Their sort of brown looking, you all know what I'm talking about! Is there anything that they can be covered with that won't stand out? They are in a very visible place in the ceiling and I certainly don't want to paint the entire ceiling. I'm sure you painters have to have some kind of trick to hide these ugly things......right?

thanks

You can use a sealer made especially for this. Spray can sprays up. If the ceiling is fairly freshly painted and white it may hide. You would need to seal these areas even you do paint the whole ceiling.

kils, binz, zinser coverstain are all spray can primers that will seal in the stain. You may be able to find a spray can designed to spray straight up or just use a regular one.

Best to find the paint the ceiling was painted with originally or at least find the information and buy that paint. It's the only way to spot paint it so it won't stand out too much.

Reality is that it will stand out somewhat, though.

To do it right we seal the stain then paint the whole ceiling
There's an ever so slight chance it won't look too horrible just touching it up
But that would be pretty rare
