Wallpaper paste removal

How can you tell if wallpaper paste is gone? I've removed the wallpaper, washed several time with soap and water, then scraped with putty knives while the wall was still wet. I'm assuming it is gone, but would like to make sure I haven't missed spots.

I'm assuming it is gone,

Don't assume, keep washing until it is no longer at all sticky, then apply Gardz for youe first coat

If the wall feels sticky or slimy after a rinse with plain water, there is still glue. Also a last once-over with DIF before your final rinse can be helpful.

If in doubt, yes, use Gardz.

Thanks for the info. I also have to do some minor repair work on the walls. Nothing major, but some nail holes that are open to about the size of a dime or nickel and don't go all the way thru. The nail hole does go thru, but not the bigger opening. Should I prime with the Gardz before I patch these?

Oops, you can ignore the question, the zinnser site has a brochure that covers this. For those with the same question, it basically said, use gardz, patch, then cover with gardz.
