Wallpaper issues

After a water leak from our master shower I decided to attempt to tackle the bathroom remodel myself. My question is this...

The previous owners of this house put wallpaper up directly to drywall with no primer coat. I've worked for days trying every possible trick or chemical that I could find on here or elsewhere. I've got all the wallpaper off but there are still many areas of the wall that still have some of the paper behind the wallpaper that i simply can't get off...without messing drywall up anyways(which I already have in some places). So I sanded the entire wall and when running my hand over it, it feels smooth and flush. I am going to do a knockdown texture on the wall. Is it ok if that paper is still on there if its sanded flush?? I've read about a damaged drywall sealer. My plan was so seal it, texture it, prime it and then paint it. Do you foresee any problems in the future with this?? Thanks for the help!

As long as you prime it first with Gardz and you are happy with the smoothness, then no

Any form of texture in a bathroom is a really bad idea.
