Vinyl Matt Emulsion
Much to my horror I walked in on a job where most of the woodwork has been covered in Dulux Matt Emulsion...

Presumably coated on top of faded eggshell.

Is it possible to paint eggshell on top?

It is for staff accommodation and is likely to be redecorated in a year or two's time. Is it possible just to leave it? Will it look awful in no time at all?

Help. I have just been asked to re-grout,tile and silicone. It's really affected me.

It's a sin.

Hopefully someone from the UK knows what you are talking about, I sure don't:laughing:

Once again Chris- Emulsion = latex.

I think that anything less than a satin is less than good on trim. But some eggs are better than others. More sheen and more "enamelized " a finish- the more dirt and scuff resistant it will be.
I hope you're not getting any pure silicone caulk anywhere near anything that will ever be painted. Ever.
Yes I am the sillycone police, and I am watching....

Hey bartec v,
If the Dulux Matte is product #1200, then you most likely have seriously definable brush marks or as we used to call it, “ropey”. The 1200 line is a mid grade matte finish and if eggshell is applied over it the 1200 will absorb a certain degree of sheen from the eggshell. I would recommend applying a satin over the 1200 and it should turn out as you originally planned to the eggshell sheen. Or to really do it by the book, sand the Dulux using 220 grit to smooth the surface, prime using a good quality oil base enamel undercoater, then apply your eggshell as the finish coat.
