Two questions about Terpolymer Elastomeric Waterproofing Paint

Dear all, just two quick questions here:

1. For house exterior waterproofing, we are considering the Kelly Moore 1128 Terpolymer Elastomeric waterproofing paint (http://www.kellymoore.com/products/ps_1128_kel_seal). For this paint, is one or two coats recommended? How long it would take for the first coat to fully "cured" before we could apply the 2nd coat?

2. If, for some reason, after the 1st coat, we don't like the "color", do we need to prime again then apply the 2nd coat (with a different color)? I guess it might work if the 1st coat is sort of off-white type of color and the 2nd coat is darker color, right?

3. What's the differences between terpolymer elastomeric paint and the Texcote Coolwall systems? (http://www.texcoat.com/res_app.asp)?

Thanks!

what is the substrate of your house?

I use thousands of gallons of elastomeric paints a year. just finished one side of a building that took 680 gallons of VIP 8100 elastomeric paint.

read the data pages that are easily available online.

you should not have to prime for a color change as long as you re-coat withing the critical time frame listed in your data pages - i would guess 30 to 90 days. most of the time you dont have to prime intact paint at all, just bare areas.

Answers about 1128 Ter-Polymer

To recoat 1128 it need not be fully cured, it must be sufficiently dry. Your next coat (Same or different color) will not require a primer.

Tex Coat is an acrylic architectural texture coating, it is not an elastomeric waterproofing. They are for different purposes.

I hope this helps,
