Tweaking Outside Miters
What do ya'll use when outside miters are no everso perfect ?
Caulk or Ready Patch to just fill in the minor gap prior to painting. I plan to do either and also shoot 2 23awg pinners in it.

Caulk does not have a lot of structural stability to it and might get dinged up on an outside corner if it is part of a baseboard or chair rail. I guess if it is part of crown over your head you have no worries.

I would lean toward using the ready patch or even an epoxy type wood filler if they are way off. You can sand or otherwise tool them to shape too---caulk not so much. I usually have some of the material from Abatron around but the paint store will have other brands. With epoxies always make sure they are within the manufacturers expiration date.

The only problem with wood fillers is they will tend to crack and not flex with the wood. I would lean towards caulk.

It's not terribly off...just minor gaps. I was thinking of filling with caulk - with excess - and just cut the extra off - following the sharp line of the edge. Bad idea ?
