Turbine HVLP w/pressure pot
Hello. I have a turbine driven HVLP sprayer from Campbell Housfeld and it works great, but the paint can is small. So I bought a pressure pot. I'm wondering what pressure I should set the pot to. I played around with it and got the pressure to where the paint would spray nicely but then I noticed a fine mist in the air - clearly, the pressure was too high.
Anybody have any advice?
Your air is too high; cut down the pressure until you just have a good fan without tails.
Be sure not to over-thin the product. Thin it according to directions, usually will be just enough to get a good fan.
Spraying will always produce some overspray; a good HVLP system will have the least.
It is always a good idea to test spray it on scrap material (drywall, cardboard) to assess the spray pattern and distribution. Adjust the pressure and test prior to moving on to your finish work. HVLP sprayers, I agree, have very good transfer efficiency.
