Trying to paint in southern California

I just moved into a house in southern California, 6 miles from the beach. It was built in 1927 with all the original doors. The previous owners slapped on the thickest coat of drippy white paint on all the doors and trip that is now peeling of in sticky sheets. Is my only choice to strip every door and repaint. Or because of the humidity is this just what happens no matter what? Thanks for the help:-)

Hi Mandy, welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, I can't see any other way resolve your issue than stripping it off completely. Humidity is not the problem. The previous owners probably slathered it on so thick that it never cured through and through. I'm not sure how you would remove it, but if you describe it a little better, what you're doing to remove it, and how that is faring, we might be able to help you more. Good Luck.

check your local HD/Lowes for BIX brand spray on stripper pop the door pins off the hinges and do one side at a time laying horizontal on a couple of 5 gallon buckets or garbage cans...let the spray set for 24hours then scrap it off like peanut butter consistancy repeat it to get down to the wood.stiff brissle brush even a wire brush..old toothbrushes to get the paint out off the moldings grooves if it has them
