Trouble painting plaster decorative molding

I've been tasked with painting a room's Plaster decorative molding.

The big expensive stuff.

I'm a decorative painter but this is new for me and I'm not sure what steps to take to correctly paint them.

They will have more than one color. some gold leaf as well

Should I use Acrylic or oil? flat, semi gloss, gloss? etc...

Attached image is the result I'm looking for

Trouble painting plaster decorative molding

Your link to photos did not work. Try again?

What material are you finishing? I just want to make sure it is actually plaster and not some extruded plastic type product.
