tint

Hey mj68mav,

Tints are the pigments used to mix different colors. They are mostly universal, meaning to say they can be mixed in both oil base paints as well as latex paints. The two main manufactures are Cal-tints and Tints-all. The primary tints are red, yellow and blue, all others are mainly toners. If you know how to combine them in paint, you can mix or match any color. Tints do have their limit, meaning to say you can only add so much to a gallon before the paint will not accept any more, that's why paint manufactures make different bases to accept more or less tints.
