Thompson Tinted Water Seal

I couple years back, I sealed a cedar bench with Thompsons Tinted Water Seal. It was a disaster. It just never dried. It stayed tacky. And looked bad on top of it. I figured it would eventually dry, but even though you could sit on it, it still felt gummy.

So last year I tried sanding it off. I was only able to get about half of it off.

Any suggestions for what I should try next? Could I paint it the way it is? Not really the look I wanted, but not sure what to do with it.

Do you think stripping would work? Even after sanding, it doesn't seem very smooth anymore. Kind of like the grain is raised.

Sounds like the Thompson's wasn't stirred enough.I have used it once on a deck and it was a bear to mix.

Thompson's Sealer, tinted or not, is a horrible liquid wax based product. You have to strip it as you would floor wax. Usually the stuff weathers and falls apart after a season. If you got the lucky pail? I guess you have to go to a janitorial place and get a wax stripper on the cheap?
