Texturing walls

Evening everyone! Has anyone ever added primer right to the texture being sprayed on a wall...does that work?

Depending on the texture you might be able to but...

It would only cut the effectiveness of the primer and could (seriously) adversely affect the quality of the texture
So it wouldn't help cut out a step or anything, just make the over-all project worse (more likely to turn out badly or lead to an early - or immediate - and unwanted failure)

I have added paint to drywall mud to get a desired color for a texture, but not to replace proper prime coat. Raw sheetrock needs primer!
