Textured paint over plaster skim over wallpaper?
My bathroom needs a paint job. Unfortunately, it appears as though the previous owner did a skim job over the original wallpaper, then used textured paint over it (probably to camouflage all the shoddy patch jobs). Now it's flaky and uneven, so I think painting over it again is really not the answer. Is it possible to remove all this and start fresh?
In a couple of spots where the the paint is lifting off around old patch jobs, the wallpaper lifts and peels off easily. I'm not sure what I can do to get the rest of it off, though. Any advice would be much appreciated, I'm very new to this home repair/improvement stuff. |
Getting back to the original wall surface is always best. See
