texture on new wall

I plan on spraying texture onto this new wall I just built (with a compressor and texture gun, those cans are both a nuisance and expensive) my question is when does the texture go on, before or after the primer? does it matter?

tnx,

texture on new wall

There are two opinions that go around about this.

My take on this, is that texture is primarily joint compound. You apply joint compound onto sheetrock. You don't prime sheetrock before applying compound to it.

That is why we always apply texture first, then prime over it.

Technically the texture should go on after the primer, then be re-primed
However, it's rarely done this way in new construction
